Kaspar König is een onafhankelijk kunstenaar met interesse in context en concept. Ondanks zijn diploma Industrial Design van de universiteit voor de kunsten te berlijn, daagt hij zichzelf uit op het gebied van Klankkunst en performances. Daarnaast is hij zeer geîntereseerd in Recycling, super-use en andere manieren van het doorbreken van de normale produktie-kringloop. Als initiator van de stichting de 4 koningen en de Artspace Rondeel Maastricht, handelt hij naar het principe van de cultuur catalyse.

A(rtspace)R(ondeel)M(aastricht) is honoured to invite you for 5 lectures about combating desertification with an independent designpanel at 20:00h on Saturday the 5th of september, and updates you about the Artspace at 19:00h that same day.

In 1969, for the first time a photograph of the Earth was published photographed by Apollo 8. This picture and the technological development in the 20th century changed public understanding of the Earth dramatically.

Scientific knowledge led to the theory that the various components of the Earth form a system, this led to the hypothesis that the entire biosphere is functioning as one organism.
Desertification is the degradation of land in arid, semi arid and dry subhumid areas resulting from human activities and influenced by climatic variations. Current desertification is taking place much faster worldwide than historically. A major impact of desertification is biodiversity loss and loss of productive capacity. In Africa, if current trends of soil degradation continue, the continent might be able to feed just 25% of its population by 2025, according to UNU’s Ghana-based Institute for Natural Resources in Africa.

Whenever something moves, it’s very likely to have a sound due to the movement. Friction, resistance etc. are the power of sound. In this case I wanted to put it into a painting. Something to put on the wall and be reminded of the sincere expression of this movement. That is why i engineered the first series of sound paintings. It’s a start and as a matter of fact I would love to impose all settings and scenes of kinetic energy
on the wall.

When I was making the blackbox at the kombinat > automaten workshop, i started with a old bontempi keyboard. Next to that I found a great designed Uetz suitcase, a classical storage system in Switzerland. In a moment I took off basicly all the mainpart of the keyboard like the keys, but I only left the volume and beat/accomp mix where it was.

Now I got a box that really interests me, cause it sounds everytime quit different, so it suprises over and over. Great for the concerts.

During the 10 x10 -> 11 days in cabaret voltaire I was able to make a bass that has a flexible body and a fixed foot where it can stand on. It sounds very deep and warm through the pick-up element from a guitar. The bass is made out of a bed slat base lying around in the magnusstreet in Zürich. Have a look at the picture.

the classical side of the guitar sounds like an asian lute, more east.
the rockguitar sounds more like classic rock, more west.

try it out if you have to many guitars. It is a great deal of fun.

Er is wéér een belangrijke stap gezet in de aanloop naar de Biënnale het ArtiParti event met als hoogtepunt de uitreiking van de Noortman APartPrize. Afgelopen maandag kwam de prejury bij elkaar om van de 245 (!) ingezonden werken er 36 te selecteren. We zullen je niet langer in spanning houden:

VAN HARTE GEFELICITEERD! De jury heeft jouw werk geselecteerd en daarmee ding jij dus mee naar de Noortman APartPrize.

Het object dat genomineerd is, is de stoel “OSLO” gemaakt uit duitse brandweerslang met witte ommanteling.

Het is een onderzoek in de relatie tussen de verbale en non-verbale taal. Een onderzoek in de betekenis van een woord en de betekenis van een handeling.
Het lichaam staat voor de abstractie, de vorm, de buitenkant en de beweging.
lostbox is een belichaming van de uitdrukking ‘minder is meer’.
